The Maltese Falcon, by Dashiell Hammett, provides one of the best detective stories...well...ever...and our May book.  And with so many cocktail options provided by our booze-loving hero, it will be quite a feat to choose just one for our cocktail! April Read!

Welcome back, bookish Betties and literary lads! 
It is now April and time for the next installment of Two Sisters 
Books & Booze Club! 


This month the book of choice is The Hangman's Daughter by Oliver Potzsch. 
The book is a thriller based in 17th Century Germany. 
A young boy is found dead with a strange tattoo on his body and the villagers 
immediately suspect witchcraft. It is the task of the hangman, Jakob Kuisl, 
and his daughter, Magdalena, to uncover the truth behind this mysterious murder. 

Come discuss this thriller with us on the last Wednesday in April, 4/25!!! 
We will gather to rehash the suspense, intrigue, and romance of the text and 
we will have plenty of booze on hand to calm your frazzled nerves!

97 Orchard by Jane Ziegelman

Our March reading takes us on a journey through the culinary history of 97 Orchard Street.  Now the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, 97 Orchard once housed generation after generation of immigrants.  The examination of this history amounts to a gastronomic adventure.  Read, enjoy and then come drink and discuss on Wednesday, March 28th!  Maybe even try a few recipes and report back :-) 

February Read!

For February we have (finally!) chosen a book -- Short and beautiful: Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities.  Our meeting, held on February 29th, will feature something lovely and made with Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur.  Please enjoy and then join us on the 29th!

DISCARDIA

Our January book: Discardia: More Life, Less Stuff, written by local (like right 

around the corner) author and cocktail maven Dinah Sanders.  Apropos for starting 

the new year with a clean slate, Discardia, advocates for cleaning away the clutter, literally and metaphorically, to create the life you desire to live.

Sanders will join us on Wednesday, January 25th between 6pm and 8pm, to discuss her book with us and to enjoy a special cocktail (this month with distilled spirit!!! --yes that's right, as of January 13th we are a full bar!).

JUST AROUND THE CORNER

Our December book club meeting is just around the corner -- Wednesday, December 21st from 6pm-8pm.  The 'recipe' is simple: (1) Read the book; (2) Come to Two Sisters anytime between 6pm and 8pm on the appointed day; (3) Enjoy a cocktail; and (4) Discuss the book.  Repeat (3) and (4) as necessary.

DECEMBER Reading!

Hi all:

Our first book club meeting was lovely, and I am looking eagerly forward to December's (on the 21st from 6 pm - 8 pm).  December's book is StretchyHead by local author Ian Tuttle -- super cute series of vignettes all of which take place at SF restaurants.  It should be a good little read.  Please enjoy and we'll see you on the 21st.
